1957 Thunderbird Project
1957 Ford Thunderbird that just came out of storage. It has been sitting undriven for the last 6 years, but with a little fresh gas and a battery it started right up and runs very good. No smoke or odd noises. The body is in great with no signs of major body repair ever. The paint is poor and certainly needs to be redone. There is absolutely no rust in this vehicle and it has never had any rust repair ever. It was optioned with the 312 "D" code engine and automatic transmission which are original to the car. It still has its original interior, but will need some attention. The seat is very dry and cracked, the dash has 2 minor splits at the seams. The door panels are still in pretty good condition. Convertible soft top is in good condition and looks to have been replaced at some point. This car is well optioned with power windows, 4 way power seat, power brakes, power steering, and air conditioning. After starting it up we checked operation of the power windows, seat, gauges, lights, blinkers, radio, etc. The only things that do not seem to function properly are the wipers and the ac does not blow cold. The brakes will need to be gone through... I added fluid and it weeps from a power brake hose and from the master cylinder. I did not drive the car because of this, however it runs excellent and will go into forward and reverse gear. The radiator will need to be repaired as it does have a leak in the upper tank. I would recommend the fuel tank be drained and cleaned. It will need a good going over before it can be deemed safe for road use. This car has always been in southern California and Arizona. You could not ask for a nicer car to restore.
