1950 Ford Club Coupe

1950 Ford Club Coupe. Very original car and one of the most solid I have come across. Previous owner rebuilt the flathead V8 engine, transmission, brakes, and suspension. The paint is over 40 years old and finished in lacquer. Shines like new, but has lacquer cracking throughout from age. (very cool patina!)The body is very straight and the car is virtually rust free. There are some slight bubbles forming on the bottom front of the passenger side door(pics below). Otherwise rust free. The original floor pans had a layer of grease and grime we powerwashed off and we were amazed at the condition of the floors still in its original red oxide primer. There is no evidence of any body repair with the exception of the panel below the trunk lid which was replaced many years ago. (maybe a slight fender bender?) The quarter panels were not touched as evidenced from the inside, all of the original sound deadening is intact. You would have to be pretty sharp on these cars to see the repair, and it is only evident from inside the trunk. Interior was completely redone and is in very good condition. It has 4 seat belts, all of the garnishing mouldings were painted, and the dash was restored. The steering wheel was an NOS part or beautifully restored. All of the gauges work, clock, and heater. Windshield wipers try to work when you pull the knob, but there must be a vacuum leak in either the switch or the motor because they are very weak. All of the glass is excellent and all of the weatherstripping was replaced when the interior was redone. All of the chrome and stainless is in very good condition with only very minor scratches here and there. A complete reproduction or NOS wiring harness was installed. It is the original cloth bound type. All of the lighting works. Rims were powdercoated and radial wide whitewall tires were fitted. The car was lowered 2" all of the way around for more of a custom stance. This car drives very nice and tight, no rattles and very smooth. Overdrive works flawlessly and automatically downshifts when you floor it for passing. This rare feature makes it much nicer on the freeway. The V8 engine runs as smooth as a singer sewing machine. The engine and transmission leak a little oil, but I have never met an old flathead that doesnt. (nothing out of the ordinary)Tube headers and aluminized dual exhaust were installed for better performance and sound. This is a very cool cruiser with neat history and awesome patina!
