1934 Ford Roadster
All original Henry Ford steel Roadster from the Joseph Guylas Collection. Many of you reading this already know the car, it was well known here in Tucson as well as in Los Angeles as the builder was a member of the roadsters club. Billy Herbert acquired this 34 roadster in 1985 after years and years of persistant hounding of its original owner in Bisbee Arizona. (who still drove the car)The car was bone stock and still retained its original black paint. There was no rust ever on this car, all of the original sheetmetal was used. A few years later the car was stripped to bare metal for well known metal man Charlie Hall who finessed any dings and dents away. Car was painted "Polo Green" with Dupont Base/ Clear, then sanded and buffed for a mirror finish. Frame was kept stock and painted gloss black along with the rear end.(rear end is original, stamped 7-34) Wishbones were chromed along with the 40 ford brake backing plates. A tubular dropped axle was used in the front to get her down. Bumpers are original and were rechromed. Grille and running boards were NOS. Engine was built using an 59 A block with a merc crank. It was ported and polished, Kong Jackson made those heads just for this car. Up top is a Thickstun intake with 2- 97 stromburgs. It sports Electronic ignition and original Fenton exhaust manifolds. Backed by a built 3 speed. This engine runs fantastic, definitely one of the sweetest running flathead mills I have owned. Wheels are original Magnesium Halibrands fully polished. Interior is from Lebaron Bonney, front seat is leather. Floor has custom German square weave carpet fitted. Rumble seat in the back. Dash is absolutely stunning utilizing 2 different woodgrains. There is an original Ford 1903-1933 Commemorative badge affixed over the cigar lighter hole. Very nice attention to detail throughout this very rare car. Joe bought the car in 1999 and unfortunately passed away one year later. It Just came out of a careful 12 year storage where it rested on stands with fuel drained and oil periodically pumped through the engine. It is truly a fantastic car with great history. Runs smooth and crisp, even when cold. This is a unique and increasingly rare opportunity to own a real unmolested traditionally built 34 roadster.
