1968 Karmann Ghia
1968 Karmann Ghia convertible. Same caring owner since 2002 when this car was cosmetically and mechanically restored. Started as a rust free AZ body and was repainted white inside and out. Custom interior finished in black and grey tweed. Custom 8 spoke rims. Custom VDO gauges and Panasonic CD player. Custom fiberglass color matched bumpers. Under 22,500 miles since restored and less than 1500 miles on a new 1600 dual port engine. High quality Paint shows very well but has some flaws from age. Under the hood and decklid there are some peeling areas where the original paint shows through. (not visible when hood and decklid are closed) There is one minor dent in front of the passenger side A pillar. This car spent the last 5 years in Virginia where it was only driven in the summer, but has unfortunately developed a few bubbling areas in the lower rocker panels as noted in the pictures below. Undercarriage is one of the cleanest and rust free I have seen. The brakes and suspension were all rebuilt upon restoration and repaired as needed throughout the last 7 years of ownership. ( car comes with a big stack of receipts) Top is German canvas and is in great shape, but the header latch is stripped and in need of repair. It wasnt much of a concern for the owner as it was usually driven with the top down. All of the weatherstripping and seals are in good shape. The interior is still in very good shape with the exception of some warping on the door panels. Runs and drives excellent with no mechanicl problems evident. All of the electricals including turn signals, radio, wipers, lights, and gauges work great. This is a very nice solid Ghia that can be enjoyed as-is and if you would like to make it show quality it would not be very hard to do.. just needs little details here and there. Top boot comes with the car but not shown in pics.
