1962 Corvette
Sold
Here we have a true Barn Find (actually a garage find) 1962 Corvette. This car has had the same owner since 1965 until his recent death. ( have original 1965 title w/ $785 lein release from bank.) It has been in storage since 1970( PA window inspection sticker still there and original PA plate from 1969) He had used the car for racing in the 60's which is evident by the era racing equipment still installed on the car. It has a mallory distributor with Electronic sun tach (in addition to the stock 6500 RPM Tach) Holley 780 dated to 1966 with mechanical secondary upgrade. Very cool exhaust with cut outs under the car and rear exit with mufflers. Ansen Scattershield bell housing with NHRA APP. cast into the side and even all of the original Brass ansen hardware. Cragar SS Rims with Goodyear Wide Tread GT tires. Hurst shifter with eelco shift handle. (Not Dry, and car was stored on Jack stands) He had intentions of modifying this pristine body but luckily did not get very far before he stopped working on it. This car has never been hit and retains all of its original bonding strips. He cut the tailight panel for fitment of some 1963 Riviera tailights which has not been repaired yet. He had installed a wing, then removed it as evidenced by some rivet holes that were fixed in the quarter panels. Luckily he did not cut or damage the body. The P/S Quarter panel had a small scuff that was repaired ( bonding strip underneath undamaged. There is one small crack on the front valence from a parking curb that needs to be fixed but is very minor. Hole in the hood and A Mach One hood scoop was installed. He planned to paint it gold as evidenced by the engine compartment color. Otherwise this is one of the nicest bodys I have seen. Gaps are very very good, original ermine white paint still in the door jambs and trunk. Doors align and close amazingly. I have never seen body fitment better in an early vette. Car was stripped properly, we could not have done a better job. Floors are excellent. I took some carb cleaner and a rag to clean 2 spots( pics below) so you could see how clean it is (Beautiful blond color). Trunk has the original spare and jack. Cover is still in good shape and has brake scoop installation instructions for front and back as well as posi sticker and jack sticker (they are worn but readable). Convertible top is original and complete but needs to be redone. Interior is original and needs redone. One kick panel has a crack as shown in pics below. Dash is nice but has an extra hole for the tach( will be covered by new padded dash when installed) Gauges are in excellent condition but lenses are a little dirty.( I'm sure they would polish out nicely. Faces are not faded and car has 55, 756 original miles. 6500 redline tach. Engine has a block casting # 3782870 and j 5 3 date code. Heads are matching #3782870 F 3 5 date codes. Intake is 3917610. Transmission is a Muncie 4 speed. Radiator is #3150916 d 62 date code. Has all deep groove pulleys. Frame is excellent and untouched with the exception of a dent in the bottom of the passenger side rail around the footwell area ( can be easily heated and pulled back) Absolutely no rust through or heavily pitted areas. Center has some pitting, but nothing that a little primer and sanding would not cover. Rear end has the big P for Posi, casting # 3789812, D 25 2 date code. Still has original brake lines and axle straps. Suspension all looks in good shape. Has front and rear factory sway bars. All of the trim is in good shape, but would need rechrome for show quality. Rear bumpers are original with no dents, fronts are NOS in the original box. Some minor scratches from storage, but can be buffed out. Rocker mouldings are NOS in the package and still excellent # 3820542, 3820541. NOS windshield channel # 3740253 in package still plyable. All glass is excellent and original, no chips or scuffs. Door windows roll up nice and frames are great. I'm sure this car would run, but I have not tried. I thought it would be best to totally go through the vehicle. Comes with 1970's era Delaware Valley Corvette club stickers (2) and Corvette Cavalcade plaques from the first annual in 1971 to 1978 in mint condition and a judges button. Also comes with some pewter trophies( but unsure if they were awarded to this car) You could not ask for a nicer car to restore. This car had been carefully stored in Pennsylvania since 1970 and now here in Tucson since the late 70's indoors only. In Tucson, it was covered up the whole time hidden by boxes in his garage because "he was afraid of someone stealing it" as told by his wife. Here is your chance to restore a truly unique car.
